The Wisdom of Stewardship
Here in Idaho, we understand something about caring for the things we depend upon.
Whether it's a farm, a garden, a favorite stretch of public land, or the brilliant camas that appears across an Idaho prairie, what grows and flourishes requires stewardship.
We tend the soil. We pay attention to changing conditions. We don't expect every season to produce the same thing. And we understand that continually taking without replenishing eventually diminishes what we depend upon.
Yet leaders rarely extend that same wisdom to themselves.
We keep producing.
We keep giving.
We absorb one more responsibility because the mission matters and someone needs to do it.
But leadership is also a resource that must be stewarded.
The goal isn't to become strong enough to withstand everything. It is to become wise enough to recognize what this season requires.
