My 20+ years of global non-profit experience has resulted in millions of dollars to fund community development, new programs, and new non-profit organizations. I teach fundraising strategies and best practices to global non-profits and have helped large corporations and small-to-mid-size businesses design their giving priorities, including employee-engagement, matching gifts and cause-related-marketing programs. Catherine Bates is a storyteller at heart and passionate about creating communications strategies that help companies thrive. For over a decade, Bates has successfully helped organizations in the public and private sectors amplify their impact stories. She has a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her work at Boise State University centered on building programs and communication strategies to increase access for students historically underrepresented in higher education. She has directed multiple federal grant programs and facilitated leadership development and inclusive training for individuals, teams, and organizations. Most recently, she developed, managed, and implemented the communication programs for the largest BBB in the country and helped move a 110-year-old brand into the future. As Director of Communications with Slade Strategies, Catherine offers strategic counsel to mission driven businesses who aren’t afraid to shake up the status quo.

Megan received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Communication at Boise State University and has been teaching team and leadership workshops for the past 25 years. Her passion is to help others recognize and effectively utilize their talents within a team. I see connections to out-of-the-box options where most don’t and am capable of bringing diverse perspectives and thinking to the mix to help identify better solutions. I’ve worked with more than 1,000 organizations from all forty-four Idaho counties and I bring a level of expertise and experience that few possess. My background as a philanthropic program officer, grant writer and federal grant reviewer, executive director, Board chair, and consultant lends great experience and insight into options and solutions. The multi-million dollar philanthropic investments I’ve managed have led to the creation of Bluum.org, Mission43, Khan Idaho, Go On Idaho and many other successful initiatives.

Luke is a a researcher, facilitator, teacher and leader who designs impactful solutions with companies, higher education institutions, and individuals who are interested in using design-thinking to uncover new possibilities. He is an effective communicator and enjoys helping teams learn how to use insights to create ideas, prototype to test those ideas, and drive the implementation of new products, services, and experiences. Laura Jendro

Laura has been a project and team leader for 20+ years working in industries ranging from destroying the U.S. stockpile of chemical weapons to micro-chip manufacturing. Over ten years ago, she realized the value of working in an Agile way and now devotes her career and passion to helping teams bring value to all types of businesses. Laura's education is as unique as her career with a BA in Business and a Master's in Safety, Security and Emergency Management. She holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification since 2005 and a Professional Scrum Master certification since 2016, along with a PMI-ACP certification, and most recently a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) certification. She and her husband have resided in the Boise area since 2012 and are avid mountain bikers, hikers and enjoy RVing and many other outdoor activities that the surrounding northwest area has to offer.

My superpowers are onboarding employees to make them into agents of change, encouraging cooperation to let collective intelligence bud, facilitating group discussions to lead them to co-designed decisions. I believe we have to give people the floor to make change happen. I support my clients in driving their transformation projects *with* their staff.
I am also a sketchnoting and doodling addict. I like to turn anything I read or hear into a visual recap. I tell stories with doodles and a few key words. I believe a visual one-pager of a conference, a vision or a complex topic 101 helps focusing on key ideas, and being understandable and memorable.

I am a bridge-builder and can help individuals and organizations navigate difficult conversations regarding equity, help build cultural intelligence, and uncover areas that need to be addressed from a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion perspective. In my eighteen years of military service, I’ve developed a keen sense of discipline, focus and courage and applied it to my work with at-risk youth. Ten years working with youth has honed my coaching, mentoring and listening skills. The ability to work with youth to achieve their audacious goals transfers well to the workplace. Salome Mwangi
Cultural Broker
An accomplished speaker, trainer, and cultural broker, Salome Mwangi bridges the cultural divide. She advocates for intentional cross-cultural living through language interpretation and translation, as well as training and workshops that address cultures - yours, mine, and ours - their beauty and their challenges. Her 2020 TEDx Boise talk entitled “Being a cultural broker” is worth spreading. She relocated to the Treasure Valley twenty years ago via the refugee resettlement program from Nairobi, Kenya. Her professional experience is in banking, finance, and information technology. She has helped bridge the language and cultural gap between limited English proficient immigrants and their service providers. She is also an entrepreneur with her own company, Mwangi’z Inc. Salome serves on several boards, among them, the Idaho Food Bank, Idaho Nonprofit Center, Tanta Inc. and the Northwest Area Foundation. She is passionate about bringing more voices and flavors to the communal table—figuratively, literally, and organically.
